ISO/IEC 17025 Management Review: Inputs, Outputs and Records

August 24, 2026 · 1 min read

Management review is where laboratory leadership steps back and confirms the quality system is working, suitable and effective. Clause 8.9 sets out what must be considered.

Required inputs

Effective reviews draw on a defined set of inputs: changes affecting the lab, objectives met, audit results, corrective actions, external assessments, workload and resources, customer and staff feedback, complaints, effectiveness of improvements, and outcomes of risk management.

Required outputs

The review must produce decisions and actions on the effectiveness of the system, improvement, resource needs and any change required.

Keep the records

Minute the review, capture the decisions with owners and dates, and track the resulting actions to closure — the records are your evidence at assessment.
